Bitcoin enters the final week of October facing renewed uncertainty after another unsuccessful attempt to sustain a recovery. The cryptocurrency climbed toward $85,000 last week before retreating toward $80,000, leaving traders weighing the prospects of a rebound against the risk of further losses.

Kalshi’s weekly Bitcoin prediction market prices illustrate the uncertainty. With BTC trading around $80,140 on Monday, October 26, traders assigned a 56% probability to Bitcoin finishing Friday at $80,000 or higher, but just a 27% chance of reaching $82,000.

The next several days could reshape those expectations. The Federal Reserve's October 27–28 meeting, upcoming economic reports, and shifting demand for U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs create a potentially consequential backdrop for the October 30 settlement.

Bitcoin's latest retreat follows a failed recovery attempt last week. BTC climbed to nearly $85,000 on October 21 before falling sharply the following day, eventually dipping below $80,000 over the weekend. By Monday, the cryptocurrency was down roughly 2.5% over seven days, having surrendered most of the gains from its brief midweek rally.

The $80,000 area has become particularly important because it sits near the estimated average purchase prices of U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF investors and corporate treasury holders. Glassnode's October 21 research placed those cost bases between approximately $80,000 and $81,500, while also identifying renewed buying interest around $80,000\. That makes the area a meaningful test of investor demand as Bitcoin attempts to stabilize following last week's decline.

Institutional flows have added to the uncertainty. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded approximately $773 million in combined net outflows on October 22–23, reversing much of the momentum from earlier in the week. Although the funds still finished the five-day period with roughly $301 million in net inflows, the late-week reversal coincided with Bitcoin's renewed weakness. That leaves Friday's settlement approaching amid questions about whether institutional demand can provide meaningful support.

## **Bitcoin Price Ranges Reveal a Broadly Divided Market**

Kalshi's Bitcoin Price Range market offers a different perspective. The relatively even distribution across several ranges reflects a market still searching for direction after Bitcoin's recent swings. BTC approached $85,000 last week before retreating toward $80,000, demonstrating how quickly the cryptocurrency can move through multiple settlement bands.

There's also an important distinction between the two markets. The Above/Below contracts place greater cumulative probability on lower thresholds, but the range market shows no overwhelming concentration around any particular $500 interval. That suggests traders see several plausible closing-price outcomes rather than one dominant target.

## **What to Watch Before Friday's Bitcoin Settlement**

The remaining days of October bring several developments that could influence Bitcoin's direction, particularly as traders reassess interest-rate expectations and demand for risk-sensitive assets. Three factors stand out:

- **The Federal Reserve's October decision:** The Fed concludes its two-day policy meeting on Wednesday, October 28\. Markets broadly expect interest rates to remain unchanged, placing additional attention on the accompanying statement and Chair Kevin Warsh's remarks. Signals about the outlook for December could influence Treasury yields, the dollar, and demand for Bitcoin.
- **Institutional demand and ETF flows:** U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs experienced sharp swings last week, including substantial inflows followed by renewed withdrawals. The reversal illustrates the fragility of institutional demand during Bitcoin's latest pullback. Fresh inflows could support a recovery, while continued redemptions would add another obstacle to reclaiming higher price thresholds.
- **Economic data and broader market sentiment:** Thursday brings third-quarter GDP figures, September PCE inflation data, and weekly unemployment claims. Stronger-than-expected inflation or renewed pressure on equities could weigh on cryptocurrencies, while more favorable readings could help improve risk appetite ahead of Friday's settlement.

For now, markets suggest Bitcoin's path remains unsettled. The $80,000 threshold is closely contested, higher levels carry increasingly modest probabilities, and the range contracts reflect uncertainty about where BTC will ultimately finish. With the Fed decision and important economic releases still ahead, the final days of October provide a meaningful test.
