Bitcoin is moving again.

After falling below $76,000 last week, the world's largest cryptocurrency surged above $85,000 Monday, reaching its highest level since January. Prediction markets now give Bitcoin roughly even odds of remaining above $85,000 when Friday's 5 p.m. EDT settlement arrives, while $90,000 remains a more distant possibility.

## Quick Brief

Bitcoin's latest move follows a sharp reversal from last week's selloff. The cryptocurrency dropped below $76,000 after trading near $82,000 earlier in September, but recovered above $81,000 by the weekend before surging Monday morning.

The rally pushed Bitcoin above $85,000 for the first time since January. It also carried BTC above its 50-week moving average for the first weekly close in 45 weeks, a technical level that drew additional attention from traders.

Several factors have supported the rebound. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs returned to net inflows late last week after heavy outflows earlier in the week, while falling oil prices and Treasury yields helped improve the broader backdrop for risk assets Monday.

The move accelerated as Bitcoin climbed through the low-$80,000s, forcing traders who had bet against the cryptocurrency to close short positions and adding buying pressure to the rally.

## What prediction markets say about Bitcoin this week

The market ladder shows a significant divide between holding the recent rebound and extending it much further.

Bitcoin is priced at 97% to finish at or above $75,000 Friday afternoon and 92% to remain above $80,000\. Those contracts suggest traders see a substantial reversal of the recent recovery as relatively unlikely over the next several days.

The more interesting line sits at $85,000.

That contract is priced at 52%, essentially splitting the market around an area Bitcoin reached Monday morning. Unlike a market asking whether Bitcoin will touch a certain level this week, these contracts settle based on where Bitcoin is trading at 5 p.m. EDT Friday.

The distinction matters after such a fast move. Bitcoin can trade above $85,000 during the week without the $85,000 contract ultimately resolving Yes.

The upside becomes considerably less likely from there. Bitcoin's chance of finishing Friday at or above $90,000 is priced at 22%. Reaching that threshold would require another meaningful leg higher after an already sharp recovery.

## What could move Bitcoin next?

The durability of the rebound may be more important than Monday's initial surge.

ETF flows remain one indicator to watch after demand returned late last week. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded more than $430 million in net inflows Friday after heavy outflows earlier in the week.

The broader market backdrop could matter as well. Oil prices and Treasury yields moved lower Monday, helping stocks and other risk assets recover after a volatile week. U.S.-China trade discussions are also back in focus ahead of President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States this week.

For prediction markets, however, the immediate question is simpler: Can Bitcoin hold its latest move through Friday?

The market currently sees $80,000 as a strong favorite, $85,000 as close to a coin flip, and $90,000 as possible but considerably less likely.
