Southern Miss and Troy get the Week 6 college football slate started Tuesday night with both teams coming off a bye.

The market gives Troy a substantial edge at home, where the Trojans will try to extend a five-game winning streak against the Golden Eagles.

## Market Snapshot

- **Troy:** 78%
- **Southern Miss:** 22%
- **Volume:** $147K+

- **Venue:** Veterans Memorial Stadium, Troy, Alabama

- *Prediction market prices as of approximately 6:41 a.m. EDT Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2026.*

## Quick Brief

Troy has dropped two straight after opening the season 2–0, but prediction market pricing suggests the Trojans could get back on track against a Southern Miss team that has lost three consecutive games.

The supporting markets reinforce that advantage. Troy is priced around a double-digit margin and is heavily favored to lead at halftime, while its team total sits roughly 11 points higher than Southern Miss’.

The bigger question is whether Southern Miss can build on its most competitive performance of the season. The Golden Eagles pushed Tulane before losing 24–21.

## Southern Miss turns to Lyddy

Southern Miss enters conference play at 1–3, but its latest performance offered some encouragement.

With Ethan Hampton sidelined by a hand injury, Landry Lyddy threw for 243 yards and a career-high three touchdowns against Tulane. He has completed 38 of 62 passes for 508 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception this season. Hampton is out for Tuesday’s game.

The Golden Eagles also have a productive ground option in Steven Robinson, who leads the team with 319 rushing yards and four touchdowns.

Southern Miss will need that offense to travel. Its defense has allowed 235.2 rushing yards per game, ranking near the bottom of the FBS, creating an obvious vulnerability for a Troy team trying to regain its footing.

## Troy looks to rebound at home

Troy’s 2–0 start has been followed by consecutive road losses, but the defense showed its ceiling during a 27–17 defeat at Missouri. The Trojans held Missouri to just 230 total yards before following that performance with a 21–10 loss at Utah State.

Quarterback Goose Crowder has thrown for 822 yards and seven touchdowns through four games, while Gavin Griffin leads Troy with 259 rushing yards.

The matchup also comes with a recent history tilted heavily toward the favorite. Troy has won five consecutive meetings with Southern Miss, including all four since the programs became Sun Belt opponents. The Trojans won last year’s meeting 28–18.

## What to Watch

- **Lyddy’s second start:** Southern Miss was far more competitive at Tulane, and Lyddy gets another chance with Hampton sidelined.
- **Southern Miss against the run:** The Golden Eagles’ struggling run defense gives Troy a potential path to controlling the game.
- **Troy at halftime:** The first-half market is considerably more decisive than the full-game spread, with Troy priced at 70% to take a lead into the break.
- **The 10.5-point threshold:** Troy has a strong edge in the winner market, but the market is nearly split on whether the Trojans win by more than 10.5.
