Minnesota now holds a 54% chance of winning, but the rest of the board remains almost perfectly balanced. Traders are split over whether the Vikings can win by more than 1.5 points, while the game total sits almost exactly at 50%.

That fits a rivalry with a long history of close games. Fifteen of the past 23 regular-season meetings played in Minnesota have been decided by single digits. Green Bay is exactly 13–13 there since 2000.

This one also comes with a new wrinkle: Murray will make his first start for Minnesota against a Green Bay defense coordinated by Jonathan Gannon, head coach for the final three seasons of his run in Arizona.

Kyler Murray gets an immediate rivalry test

Minnesota made one of the offseason’s biggest quarterback changes when it signed Murray in March, then named him the starter after a training-camp competition with J.J. McCarthy.

His first assignment is hardly a soft landing.

Green Bay’s defense overwhelmed Minnesota in the first meeting last season, holding the Vikings to 145 total yards in a 23–6 Packers win. McCarthy was sacked five times and intercepted twice.

There is another layer to the matchup. Gannon spent the past three seasons coaching Murray in Arizona before taking over Green Bay’s defense this offseason. That familiarity cuts both ways, but it gives Sunday’s opener a particularly interesting strategic subplot.

The market expects another tight Border Battle

The 54–46 winner market is not just a reflection of two NFC North teams entering Week 1 with uncertainty. Close games have been a feature of this matchup for years.

Minnesota has won three of the past four regular-season meetings, although the teams split last season’s series. Green Bay won 23–6 at Lambeau Field in November before Minnesota answered with a 16–3 home victory in Week 18. The Packers rested several starters in that finale ahead of the playoffs.

The longer history is even tighter. Green Bay and Minnesota are 13–13 in games played in Minnesota since 2000, while nearly two-thirds of the past 23 regular-season meetings there have finished within single digits.

That makes the current board feel less like indecision and more like a familiar rivalry script: Minnesota has the edge, but traders are finding little reason to price much daylight between the teams.
