Walker brings new element to Chiefs' offense

Kansas City has paired another strong start from Patrick Mahomes with the NFL's leading rusher.

Kenneth Walker III enters Sunday with 360 rushing yards and 442 yards from scrimmage through three games. His 41 forced missed tackles are the most by any player through three games since the beginning of the Next Gen Stats era.

Walker's impact extends beyond his own production. Kansas City already has 312 passing yards off play-action after managing only 396 all of last season. Mahomes has thrown for 812 yards and seven touchdowns, while averaging 8.29 yards per attempt, his best mark through three games since 2021.

The market gives Walker a 57% chance to reach 80 rushing yards Sunday and Mahomes a 59% chance to throw for at least 225.

Las Vegas is creating extra possessions

The Raiders' unbeaten start has been fueled by a defense that keeps taking the ball away.

Las Vegas' nine takeaways lead the NFL. Four came in the fourth quarter of last week's comeback against New Orleans. Those turnovers have helped generate 23 points and given the Raiders the league's best average starting field position.

The defense is also generating pressure without relying heavily on the blitz. Las Vegas has 10 sacks and the NFL's second-highest pressure rate at 36.3%, despite blitzing on only 19.5% of snaps. Maxx Crosby leads the group with 17 pressures.

Chiefs starting tackle Josh Simmons has been ruled out because of a back injury. Raiders starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson is also out.

What to Watch

  • Walker vs. the Raiders: The NFL rushing leader has topped 100 yards in each of his first three games with Kansas City.
  • Las Vegas' pass rush: The Raiders have produced 10 sacks and the league's second-highest pressure rate without blitzing frequently.
  • Bowers' second game back: After missing the first two games with a knee injury, Brock Bowers returned with 10 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown last week.
  • Mahomes against Las Vegas: His 36 career touchdown passes and 4,427 passing yards against the Raiders are his most against any opponent.
