Rays vs. Yankees Prediction Markets: Latest Prices & Props for ALDS Game 3

The Yankees are out of room for error.

Tampa Bay carries a 2–0 ALDS lead into Game 3 after winning the first two games at home, but prediction markets favor New York to extend the series Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.

Quick Brief

The Yankees return to the Bronx with a crystal-clear mandate: win or go home. Tampa Bay has taken the first two games of the series and advances to the ALCS with a victory, putting New York's season on the line Wednesday night.

Prediction markets still expect the Yankees to answer. New York enters Game 3 as the 60% favorite, with Max Fried getting the ball against Nick Martinez. That edge comes despite an offense that has managed only two runs and five hits through the first two games.

The market's message is straightforward: the Yankees are favored to survive, but not necessarily comfortably.

New York turns to Fried with its season on the line

Fried gives the Yankees a strong matchup for a game they have to win.

The left-hander finished the regular season with a 2.80 ERA and 104 strikeouts across 112.2 innings. He has also had considerable success against Tampa Bay, carrying a 5–1 record and 1.81 ERA across seven career starts against the Rays.

Martinez presents a challenge of his own. The Rays right-hander posted a 3.10 ERA across 180 innings, and Tampa Bay went 22–9 in his starts. He was particularly effective away from home, recording a 2.38 ERA across 16 road starts and allowing only three runs over 12 innings in two outings at Yankee Stadium.

Can the Yankees find enough offense?

The bigger question may be what happens when New York comes to the plate.

The Yankees managed only one hit in the series opener and four in Game 2. Rice supplied all of their scoring Monday, homering twice in the 5–2 loss. The rest of the lineup combined for just two hits.

Tampa Bay, meanwhile, has received contributions throughout its lineup. Jonathan Aranda homered for the only run of Game 1 and added two hits in Game 2, while Junior Caminero also recorded two hits Monday.

Rice carries the highest home-run probability among the six players shown on the market board at 23%, while his 2+ hits, runs, and RBIs contract is priced above 50%.

What to Watch

  • Fried's start: The Yankees' Game 3 starter has a strong career track record against Tampa Bay, and his 4+ strikeout contract leads the selected prop board at 63%.
  • New York's offense: Five hits and two runs through two games leave little margin for another quiet night.
  • The first breakthrough: Despite favoring New York outright, the market puts the Yankees below 50% to win by more than 1.5 runs.
  • Rice's encore: After supplying both Yankees runs in Game 2, Rice again sits atop several New York hitting markets.

Prediction markets favor the Yankees to extend the series, but little else on the board points toward a comfortable night. New York has scored just twice through two games, leaving the season dependent on whether Fried can keep Tampa Bay in check long enough for the offense to finally break through.
